Our Journey So Far
The Rabbit Room began as an intimate gathering and has steadily grown into a trusted sanctuary for artists, thinkers, and seekers to recharge.
The First Rabbit Room
Our inaugural two-day creativity retreat was held at WINGS Elim, Whitefield, Bengaluru. This weekend laid the foundation for our “hiding place,” establishing a space for pure rest and renewal.
Story-Telling
We expanded into a three-day residential retreat at Visthar, Kothanur. This gathering dove deep into the theme of “Story-Telling,” exploring the narratives that shape our lives through dedicated workshops and hands-on activities.
Why “The Rabbit Room”?
“Not all those who wander are lost.”
— J.R.R. Tolkien
The Rabbit Room was the informal meeting space of the Inklings, a legendary group of writers that included J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. From late 1933, they met at Lewis’s college rooms at Magdalen to read and discuss unfinished manuscripts, including Tolkien’s early ideas for The Lord of the Rings.
These meetings expanded into informal gatherings at a local Oxford pub, The Eagle and Child, in a private back lounge known as the ‘Rabbit Room’. Named after a metaphor from Lewis’s writing, the room symbolized a retreat from the pressures of life — a sanctuary for inspiration, creativity, and deep conversations that nurtured the creative spirit of its members.
